Hosted at Coombe Abbey in Warwickshire, the inaugural event welcomed 61 people from across the UK, and sponsors EFI, Accura, IPIA, Creasestream, Paperco and Presco.
Double-Olympic gold medallist, Rebecca Romero, was on hand to inspire visitors with her incredible story of how she won gold medals in both rowing and cycling at two separate Games.
The ethos of the UKDPN is about self-help and support, and the event provided the organisation with an opportunity to explain this further.
Five UKDPN members shared their experiences from a number of industry areas, including crossmedia marketing, large-format print and selling design.
The organisation came about following the demise of On Demand Communications last year, and ex-franchisees started sharing ideas in an online forum, set up by Howard Turner of Printing Plus.
Polkadot Design and Print’s Bruce Shepherd then put forward the idea of the group joining forces, to make best use of its multi-million pound buying power.
As a result, the UKDPN was born and, with Shepherd taking the role of chairman, a number of others make up the committee.
John Stevenson of Glasgow Creative, and Paul Stokes from Business Momentum, have taken the roles of treasurer and membership secretary respectively, while Paul Knapman of Church Street Printers has been appointed events organiser.
V3 Print’s Bill Vickery and HowardTurner from Printing Plus make up the rest of the committee.
